Barbara Rosene Paintings

Vocalist and Painter: “Her paintings are filled with the energy and color with which she sings. She is known for her vibrant renditions on stage and on canvas.”—

She derives inspiration for her visual artwork through life in the jazz clubs of New York and from the landscapes and historic buildings of Ohio. For many years her paintings took the form of folk art expression, but after nursing her mother through the final stages of dementia and a subsequent escape to an artist’s residency in France, Rosene emerged with a penchant and passion for abstracts. She uses a palette of colors which she hopes will bring viewers a sense of calm, joy, and a determination to pursue what feels authentic and beautiful. Her picturesque scenes of the Ohio countryside, the animated story-like visuals of New York City jazz clubs, the playful, yet tranquil abstracts  reflect her colorful, accomplished life, rich with experiences that have fed her soul and prompted her to imbue her wisdom through these art forms. Her message is simple: to live authentically and vibrantly, to meet people, to go places, and to inspire others to see the beauty in the world.
